Step-by-step Guide for Serving Patients with Sidecar Health

Sidecar Health is an innovative employer-sponsored major medical health insurance that puts the power back in the hands of patients and providers.

Step 1: Pre-Service

Whenever feasible, please provide the patient with your pricing information, including any applicable discounts for prompt and full payment at the time of service. Sidecar Health members have the ability to verify their eligibility and benefits independently through the Sidecar Health app. If you believe a direct billing agreement may exist between your organization and Sidecar Health, or if you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us for confirmation or further assistance.

 

Step 2: Fast, Easy Payment

All Sidecar Health members are equipped with a Sidecar Health Visa connected to the Sidecar Health claims account. Charge your patient pre or post service – whenever works best for you – and the patient can pay you in full.

 

Step 3: Deliver Care

Treat your patient — no need to worry about prior authorizations, step-therapies, formularies, or obstructive medical management programs through Sidecar Health.

 

Step 4: Issue an Invoice

Provide your patient with an “itemized medical invoice” or “superbill.” Ensure this document includes the following essential information:

  • Patient's full name
  • Provider’s name, address, and NPI
  • Date(s) of service
  • Itemized procedure codes (CPT/HCPCS) with charge amounts
  • Diagnosis codes (ICD-10)

  • Worried about complications? Charge a pre-service deposit to your patient’s Sidecar Health Visa to ensure no lost revenue.
  • Having issues with providing an invoice? You can follow the HCFA/CMS 1500 form or UB-04 for guidance.
