At Sidecar Health, we are here to support our members during the novel coronavirus pandemic. Here’s what you need to know:

Sidecar Health covers testing for COVID-19.

If you log into your account and go to the “Get Care” tab, you can search for “coronavirus” and see the benefit amounts that your plan will pay for testing, treatment, and hospitalization due to viral infections like COVID-19.

If you get sick, your plan will pay the benefit amount(s) for the service(s) you receive to treat your condition.

Your Sidecar Health plan pays fixed benefits for specific procedures and services that are performed by medical providers, rather than fixed amounts based on specific illnesses. So your plan will pay for the treatment rather than the disease. Treatment may vary from person to person.

Your coverage will remain the same.

We have had people asking if any details of their chosen coverage will be altered during the COVID-19 crisis. The answer is no. Sidecar Health will continue to pay the full benefit amounts for any medically necessary services or procedures you undergo, up to your chosen annual max benefit. If you designed a plan with a deductible, your coverage will kick in as soon as that deductible is met.

What to do if you are sick

If you are sick with COVID-19 or think you might have it, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends you follow the steps below to help protect other people in your home and community.

  • Separate yourself from other people in your home; this is known as home isolation
  • Call ahead before visiting your doctor
  • Wear a face mask if you are sick
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes
  • Clean your hands often
  • Avoid sharing personal household items
  • Clean all "high-touch" surfaces every day
  • Monitor your symptoms
  • Follow your local government guidelines

Sidecar Health covers telemedicine

To look up your benefit amount, go to the “Get Care” tab in your account. If you don’t yet have a plan, go to app.sidecarhealth.com/previewCoverage.
